A Brief History

Zenith Youth Theatre Company was formerly known as Bodlets. The inaugural meeting of Bodlets (The junior section of BathOperatic and Dramatic Society) was on 15th May 1963 at the Weston Hotel with its first AGM in September 1963.The Bodlets was formed by Victor Smith and Charles & Jeanne Wilkinson, members of the Bath Operatic and Dramatic Society, to encourage a younger generation to participate in amateur dramatics and to ensure young Bath Talent entered the  senior society.

Since 1964 Bodlet and, subsequently with a name change in 2003 to, Zenith Youth Theatre Company, they have been staging cabarets and shows in and around Bath to great critical acclaim.  The company first performed in 1964 at the Homestead in Combe Park, Bath and is one of the longest running youth theatre companies in the United Kingdom, only eight years younger than the National Youth Theatre.

In 1974 the company found a permanent home at the newly opened College Theatre, where it remained until its closure in 1994.  Since that date they have primarily performed at the Kingswood Theatre, Lansdown and the Mission Theatre Bath. St Marks Community Centre, in Widcombe, has been their ‘home’ for the past 25 years, rehearsing Friday evenings throughout the year and Sundays prior to show week.
